I knew that when I posted the pics of my daughter rockin’ her faux hawk, I’d get a lot of criticism from people that feel the need to talk badly about my parenting skills, despite the fact that they have no knowledge of mine or my daughter’s lives. I remember stumbling upon a comment from a girl whose exacts words were:
“Instead of you being a proud parent of a smart child you rather be proud of her because she’s the “baddest” & her “swagger is always on point”
I laughed when I read this. I actually feel sorry for the chick for feeling so down about herself that she had to go so low as to question my parenting skills and what I’m proud of. At the time, I didn’t think it was necessary to prove myself to anyone, considering the fact that I raised my daughter on my own for the past 5 years, and did a pretty damn good job of doing so.
BUT, since I can’t hold my excitement in about the good news I just received, I’ve decided to post up the letter my daughter handed to me yesterday. This is dedicated to Ms. Hater Homechick and anyone else who ever doubted me or questioned my skills as a mother. Yes, I’m damn proud of my daughter being the freshest kid on the block, but it is backed up by her many skills, talents, intelligence, and accomplishments as well.
So, Ms. Hater Homechick… thanks for making our lives the center of your world. I’ll be thinking of you this Friday as I PROUDLY watch my daughter accept her award of excellence. ♥♥♥
